FERNHOOK FALLS

MT. FRANKLAND

Picnic sites and ideal for bush walking.
TREE TOP WALK
 Giant suspended walkway through the towering canopy of the forest    -   get a birds’ eye view.  Highest point 40 metres above ground level.
Enjoy boardwalk through the ancient empire of giant karri and tingle trees. 
FRANKLAND RIVER
Join one of the relaxing cruises of the Walpole and Nornalup Inlets and up the tranquil waters of the Frankland and Deep Rivers.  Refreshments supplied.

CIRCULAR POOL
Situated on the Frankland River the water in Winter rushes over the rocks and forms a large swirling whirlpool at a bend in the River.  Photographers dream of flying foam against granite rock backdrop.
CONSPICUOUS CLIFFS
Enjoy beautiful coastal scenery, accessible by steps. 
Fishing, whale-watching.  Home of Eucalyptus ficifolia
famous Red Flowering Gum - flowers in Summer.
MANDALAY BEACH
Takes its’ name from the Norwegian barque “Mandalay” wrecked in 1911 off the coast between Chatham Island and Long Point.  At certain times the remains of the wreck can still be seen.  Excellent beach fishing.
BROKE INLET
Fed by the Shannon River Broke Inlet boasts many picturesque spots 
along its’ banks.  Spectacular scenery, excellent 4WD’ing and abundance of fish in both Inlet and Southern Ocean.
BELLANGER BEACH
Take a 4WD experience to the Blue Holes and drive along the sandy stretches of Bellanger Beach - watch the Southern Ocean rolling in. 
Enjoy swimming and beach fishing.
WALPOLE INLET
The Walpole River feeds into Walpole Inlet which in turn flows into the larger, Nornalup Inlet before flowing through the mouth and into the Southern Ocean.
The Walpole Inlet is a great favourite area for fishing and canoeing.
The Deep River (the most pristine river in Australia) feeds directly into the Nornalup Inlet.


HILLTOP LOOKOUT
Overlooks Frankland River, Nornalup Inlet, Nuyts Wilderness and the islands off the South Coast.
View Giant Red Tingle Tree and other amazing natural sights in the 
ancient forest on Hilltop Drive.
BIBBULMUN TRACK
The track has a length of some 465 klm's and runs from Kalamunda 
(near Perth) to Albany on the South Coast.
Many people whose time is limited choose sections to walk the track and still experience the never ending dream.



 
From mid-September through to November/December the bushlands surrounding Walpole become an ever changing kaliedescope of vivid colour, enhanced by a backdrop of green.
White Clematis, native Blue Wisteria and yellow 
Wattles predominate.

However, these are interspersed with flowering plants 
of every other hue and size, from the
largest forest tree to the tiny unique jewels 
of the native orchids.

with the South Coast having greatest concentration of different species

The variety of habitats in and around Walpole ensures that birdlife is plentiful and varied.
You may see the birds of the forest, heathlands, inlets and ocean - all on one day,
and often within the townsite.

The delicate brilliance of the Wrens, the majesty of a lone Sea Eagle, a stately flotilla of
Pelicans or the scarlet flashes of the Western Rosellas.

One would be hard pressed to find a better place to visit 
if birds are your scene.
