AUSTRALIA
DAY
Following the amazing three day 'Avag'day
in Walpole'
extravaganza over the January 2009 long weekend, an even bigger
and better Greatest Australia Day is being planned in
conjunction with the Shire of Manjimup.
As well as the
popular sheep dog trials, sheep shearing and classing, billy tea
and damper and the great Aussie tucker - the Shire is planning
to arrange for busloads of residents from other towns in the
Shire to attend the Citizen of the Year Award announcements that
will be held in a different town within the Shire each year,
beginning with Walpole in 2010.
See you on 26th
January 2010 for a really great outdoors day celebrating
everything Aussie!
Oi ! Oi! Oi!

Adult Learners
Week traditionally runs for the first week in September each
year. In 2009 Walpole Telecentre plans to run a two
day course in teaching participants how to make a digital home
movie, playable on a DVD Player through a Television set, using
software package Windows Movie Maker.
If by chance our application for funding is not successful we
intend to still go ahead with the course, but change it to a fee
for service type, rather than free.

Walpole Telecentre has in recent years partnered with Microsoft
Unlimited Potential program through the Smith Family.

Having joined
ASCCA in 2007 a number of programs under this joint banner are being
delivered during 2009, in conjunction with our Telstra Seniors Computing
Group.
WA Dept Education
and Training funded through successful grant application the
delivery of both First Click and Second Click programs. This year the
course was called "Old Dogs, New Tricks" and drew from past participants in First Click courses, and who
were "out there"
wishing to learn some of the new computer gadgetry that has evolved
since taking their initial course, including the use of memory sticks,
Windows Explorer functions, downloading photos and burning to disk. Second Click took the same participants
on a journey through basic digital photography including re-sizing
photos, scanning photos, slides and negatives, ending with producing
their own photographic publication using the software program Photo
Story.

PINK RIBBON BREAKFAST
Once again the Telecentre is
planning to host a Breakfast in Pioneer Park on Thursday 29th October
2009 in order to raise funds for Breast Cancer Research. This has
become an annual event supported by local businesses and individuals alike -
many donating produce or coming along to help cook and serve breakfast
fare to approx. 200 people.
The last two years we've served freshly cooked pancakes with several
different stewed fruits and yoghurt or cream toppings along with tea,
coffee and/or juice. Delicious white chocolate and macadamia
muffins were also available. One standard charge of $5 per head -
all inclusive.
I wonder what's on the menu for this year !
Official Pink Ribbon merchandise is also be
available
