George and Barbara Ebbett
both of
Bow Bridge were married in Denmark
in 1940.
They made their home in Bow Bridge,
the original dwelling being an old shingle
roofed hut that was already erected on
the 200 acres of land they had purchased.
They realised the need for a stores supply
in the area as well as a lay-by for travellers and so they built the Bow
Bridge Roadhouse, which is still in existence today. Rooms were added to
the Roadhouse to provide accommodation for their growing family.
In 1969 George and Barbara's son-in-law,
John Rule, built their first real home on the home block. They established
a dairy farm, reared cows and produced cream which was collected from the
Roadhouse and carted to Denmark.
This house was only vacated by Barbara in 2006 when she moved into Walpole.
It is the Cottage featured in this web
site and available for hire.
